What does your tongue say about your health?

Every person’s tongue is unique, with distinct characteristics that reflect their inner health. 

Ever been to a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) doctor or an acupuncturist and been asked to stick out your tongue? There is a reason for this. TCM believes the tongue is a microcosm of the entire body and will reflect its excesses and deficiencies. The shape, colour, coating, and texture of the tongue can all indicate digestive issues and body imbalances.

The gold standard: A normal healthy tongue is pink in color, has a light white tongue coating on it, and is proportionate in size to the mouth.

The above calculation is done when comparing sitting motionless to standing motionless. 

If you compare standing while fidgeting to sitting while fidgeting, you get 30 extra calories per hour. If you stand for half the workday, or 4 hours, you burn an extra 120 calories per day.

My hubbie decided to try this at work last week after watching a show on this topic and he's moving much better for it already.

SHOULDER BURSITIS

For over 9 months now I have suffered shoulder bursitis with an agonising deep ache at night making it very difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep in or to roll over in bed. 

I have tried Bowen, acupuncture, biomesotherapy (homeopathic saline injections), massage (did help for 1 night), reflexology, B12 spray, Curacumin (did help but I don't like pills), KT Tape strapping and even a bit of self brutality along the way as I got more desperate.

Proud parents, Brynn & Ruth, bought their 6 day old bundle of gorgeousness in for her first Bowen treatment yesterday. 

I treated Ruth before and during her first pregnancy which resulted in a stress-free short labour and birth.

For those of you who are recovering from a health condition or injury and looking to take upgentle exerciseagain, it was suggested to me last night (thanks Carl) that I share the Live Well Logan program on this page.

Classes are $3. 



There are plenty to choose from classes designed forheart and lung conditionsto bushwalking, canoeing and chair yoga. I can highly recommend the beginners yoga class.

The Benefits of Hanging Upside Down


For my bulging disc and scoliosis clients I think these are an absolute must. 

My family bought an inversion table 25 years ago. I bought the same one 5 years ago and have never regretted the purchase. When my back gets sore from too much bending I use my inversion table to stretch out my spine, within 5 mins of hanging upside down my pain is gone and my back feels good. 

With the invention of the yoga trapeze I am now recommending this to many of my back pain sufferers, especially my tradies.

BOWEN THERAPY AND SURGERY

Bowen has also proved its worth both before and after surgery. Many people have confirmed this after making remarkable recoveries following their operations. 

Cardiac patients who have received Bowen Therapy prior to open-heart surgery have both surgeons and anaesthetists amazed at the improvement it made to their procedures during surgery. There was less blood loss, less medication/pain-killers required, consciousness was regained more rapidly and the stay in intensive care was shorter.
