When the range of motion of a muscle or muscles is pushed beyond it's normal limits from injury, trauma or over exertion the area of tissue then becomes thickened, the blood flow in and out of the tissue is compromised, therefore the tissue becomes dehydrated, de-oxgenated and cell nutrition will be impaired.
